What kind of hooks do whitefish generally go for? I was using a jig with either minnow or worm. What else works for them?

Sometimes you cant do anything wrong sometimes you cant do anything right. Theve taken some odd things, ive even seen them caught on unbaited green jig heads. What I use is wire worms and maggots a foot off bottom or small to medium wetaskiwins. For wetaskiwins fish them right off the bottom letting them flutter on the down jig

so when you use wire worms with maggots do you put the maggot over the wire worm and cover the wire?
BTW thanks for the help!

Nothing is written in stone. I have seen times at Wab where the whitefish would not only ignore a wire worm with a maggot but would turn away on close inspection. On those days they would agressively take a bare wire worm. The very next day the maggots would work well.
Bells work really well. Some call them thumpers. Chartreuse yellow is semi working right now. BEL
