Sylvan Lake- long weekend results

Quick summery:

130 fish (2 of us)

128 Walleye 2-2.5lbs 17-19"on avg.

1 small pike

1 13" perch

We were mainly targeting the walleyes but we did troll with spoons and caught more Walleye-weird. Going into this weekend I did not think this lake had a solid walleye population. We tried 7-8 different spots and had success at each one.

Great weekend overall especially watching the comedy show at the boat launch haha

I have a buddy who goes out and won't leave until everyone in the boat hits 100.

Sylvan is LOADED with walleye. Can shore fish 100 walleye off the berm next to the beach.

X2 on that one, not a fish story at all. Went through 2 tubs of minnows in a couple hours on that lake, jig wouldn't even hit the bottom. Too bad they were all the same size...no lunkers that's for sure!

Launched at Sunbreaker-its free there.

Someone said they charge $55 in town-ouch.

And ..... there lies the issue ....

Limiting harvest on lakes as productive as Sylvan, Gull or Pigeon will lead to overpopulation and subsequent stunting of the walleyes.

I really think they need to issue more tags ........

I realize finding the balance might be tricky and I don't envy the position of the Bio that needs to make the call .... but we are ruining our lakes and swinging back to polar opposite of where we were 15 years ago.

You can just buy your own slip at the marina for $60.000, that way you don't have to pay the $55.......it was $40 two years ago think ahead and get a slip there's like 7 available !
