Hello, I am going to a course for work on thurs in red deer. Going to the mouth of the red deer river, after my course, where it meets the north Saskatchewan and was wondering if I am legally aloud to fish for white sturgeon. I know they are a living fossil and protected species and you are not aloud to keep them but if I use heavy enough gear and de-barbed hooks can I legally sport fish for them out of the North Saskatchewan river without using a guide?

certainly. you can also fish for great white sharks and manatees. just dont bet the farm on catching any of them. maybe try trolling you seem to have a handle on that already :sign0161:
