Evinrude 2 stroke oil

I need some oil for the Evinrude. There is no Evinrude dealer in Lethbridge for me to get the XD-50 that they want you to use and I believe the closest is in Red deer. I am just wondering if anyone has run any other oil in there motor and had any problems with it. This is an oil injected 2 stroke 30hp, can you just use any 50:1 marine 2 stroke oil?

I would use any premium brand 2 stroke oil. Evinrude just gets there name brand on a package from a petroleum company.

Yeah I realize that.. I really just want to know if there is anything at say Canadian Tire that I can pick up that someone has used without issues.

I used shell nautiluses (spelling) oil and then switched to amsoil and never had trouble with either with the evinrude I had. your manual should have the specs for the oil . the only thing that I would caution you about is mixing different oils . it is bad practice cause the additive packages from various manufactures may not be compatible . run your tank as low as you dare and then fill with the oil you plan on using from then on .

Be careful of Amsoil, the oil I bought is not API certified.

Stopped at Newway today and they do not carry it and never have! Even though they are a BRP dealer they don't Sell Evinrude motors and wont even bring the oil in for me as knowone has ever asked for it. Now I know why I never bought a boat there in the first place..... The search continues
