Barrier is a poor fishery has small browns very windy lake, bad ice(has open water at south end).
Sibbald anything is a no go usually winter kill
Upper is a good lake to fish if you like HARD fishing but it pays off there are some nice size fish in there.
So of them all id say hit Upper thats your best bet.

Fished barrier today, WINDY. Caught one whitefish and lost a few others. Fished the lower K lake last week, had a few bites didn't get anything. They are starting to drop the water levels. Haven't tried the upper lake but there where people fishing it

Barrier Lake is not a poor lake for fishing. I have caught a lot of nice trout in the lake over the last 3 years. Last summer my son's biggest fish was a 18" brown trout. I must admit I have not tried ice fishingon Barrier Lake though.

I fished the upper about 2 weeks ago, 1 rainbow 4 bulls, bulls were small mybe 2 pounds. The rainbow was about 3 pounds, I found that funny. The rainbows I thought didnt spawn in there figured they would of been bigger. Caught all the bulls in 25- 30 feet the rainbow was on the bottom.

It has been my experience when fishing through the ice at UKL that a quality pair of snowshues would be the best choice of equipment you can make. The snow there can be heavy and seems to weigh down the ice until a bowl has formed under the snow that fills with water. Walking thru' this will cause your boots to fill with COLD water and spoil your day entirely. Try walking south from the boat ramp then out onto the bay past the end of the picnic table area.
