Was there earlier this summer. Caught and released over 30 pike we caught o er a day amd a half. Most were about 50cm or so.

I am not sure what the current water levels are but you can probably phone the camp ground and ask the staff there.

Used to be a pretty good perch lake .
Anyone targeting them this summer?

Perch fishing has really fizzled there. Between the netting and high winter fishing pressure the keeper size fish are really thinned out. Lots of jouvenile and baby perch so maybe it will come back in a few years and be decent again. Whites are really thinned out also so now it is a hammer handle fest.

They should make it C&R for a few years. Let the fish come back. JMO.
Still a few good perch there but they are hard to come by now.

X2......that lake needs a good rest for a few years. 2 and 3 years ago in the spring there was tons of baby Perch minnows up in the shallows. Last year and this year hardly any. Tells me the breeding stock probably got wiped out quite a bit.

Too bad, but it appears its the same as all the other lakes that have easy access. The fish populations have been beaten up pretty bad.

You got that right. I have a feeling that if the Walleye were more accessible for people to keep the Perch populations would be better off as a result. There's no doubt that you have to get off the beaten path to find consistently better Perch fishing opportunities. The drive to destinations in a lot of cases just aren't what they used to be like back 20 years ago.

Who is netting?

Who is netting?

There has been some Metis guys netting there in the Fall and Winter for the past 4 or 5 years anyways. My buddy accidentally ran over the top of one of their nets and cut it with his prop one early morning a couple years back. They were netting whites but also picking up incidental catches of the largest Perch in the lake. They had nets all over the lake in early October.

Went for a drive yesterday to North buck lake ( Caslan ) and was shocked to see how low the lake is this year, the public beach area looks to be a 100' or more extended out towards the lake that last year? The perch fishing last winter was good in the last week of the season though!
