just curious ( no pun intended) what the experienced riflemen think of this model Browning BLR 30-06.
The only lever action i ever liked was a 99 Savage ( man i loved that rifle) and miss like crazy.
anyway looking for opinions etc.
thanks in advance.........jc

they are very nice. Another lever that might be worth looking at, if you can find one, is the Winchester 88

I've got one and I LOVE it. We've left it iron sights. A nice addition to our scoped BLR .243, and BLR .270. Brought it as a brush gun compliment to our Savage 300 mainly for moose.
Light, super smooth action, you can carry it on your hip all day.
No more recoil than a .270. Good ballistics with 220gr to more than 200 yds.
I've carried it for the last 2 deer seasons, no complaints.

I agree. I've had my BLR 308 for 30 years and really like it. I picked up a BLR 243 last spring as well.

I picked up the BLR pistol grip in 30-06 last year and this was the second season for it. Levers smooth and recoil is neglegible. I got home put the scope on and bore sighted it. Went out and at 25 yds blew the bulleye out first shot. 4 shots later and I was shooting 3 inches high at 100 yds.
The only downside is replacement clips are dang expensive. I bought one with the rifle so I can have two clips loaded. one for moose and one for deer.

I bought a new Browning BLR in 30-06 this fall. I love it, nice and light, but I don't find the recoil all that bad. Certainly no worse than my heavy old Remington 700 in 7mm mag.

It works pretty darn good, too!;)

Hard to tell by the pic, but is that the pistol grip or the straight style stock? Have you tried to find a Hammer extension for it? I've looked all over and can't find one for the pistol grip blr. It has a wider hammer than the older style blr's.

It's a straight stock. It has the wide hammer, too, that folds forward to act as the safety.
I haven't looked for one, but a hammer extention would sure come in handy, all right. 8)

Probably have the same hammer as mine fold at half @#%$ as well. The hammer extension extends out the side of the hammer making it a more sure grip when pulling back or easing the hammer off full @#%$. My partner has one on his old BLR and it makes a world of difference. I saw the pic at work and could make it out much better than on my own computer. lol

I don't know about the 30-06 but I have a BLR .308 with wide angle 3x9 scope with elevation dial, also 2 mags with it. I tried this rifle several times but do not like it at all and I think I will sell it. Anybody know what it's worth.? It's not in mint shape but not a total beeter either. I think the 2nd mag was around $100.00 :hat

Very nice rifle - reloads as fast as any other lever-action rifle, but with a detachable magazine it allows for modern ammunition. Best of old and new.

Just like this thread from 2006.
