View Full Version : A Few From The Weekend

With the water temp dropping every weekend, the fish have changed there eating patterns. In Sept. and first week in Oct. the walleye were stacked up in the fast water downstream of rapids. Waiting for the bait to come to them. And they were hungry lots of fish but not many huge ones. Now that the water temp. has dropped, they have moved into the slower water. Now it's the large ones turn to feed. Bouncing a jig and minnow right behind the boat works the best in cold water it keeps the bait right in the face.
The 30"ers weren't biting but the large ones were. The numbers have dropped a bit but the average size is getting bigger.
First light and the action has started.

All caught on the same hook and same hole.
Can't wait for next weekend.

Yes the sauger were skinny compared to the walleye. The walleye are fat.
There was a good hatch of shiners this year, made for lots of food. That's the key, fresh bait.

Nice ones Dago. I'm unable to get up early like you to watch the sun come up :) but finally got out at 10:30 today, got 1/2 dozen walleye, caught the same one twice about 4 hours apart. And, after looking closely at my pics, it looks like I caught that same 26"er today that you got this weekend. Let her go so you could get her again next weekend. Cheers!
