I know it is not really fishing but I thought maybe perhaps some of you may be able to help. A friend encountered it 2 weeks ago diving and nobody we know can identify what it might be.

I figured there might be some helpful insight as to what exactly it is. I understand though that most of you may not be divers.

Discovered in a mountain lake near Jasper/Banff. It may be hard to tell from the video but it is body mass of some sort with pores everywhere that upon seeing light or perhaps my diving friend went into its shell or body mass if you will.

I uploaded the video in as high a quality as I could on YouTube.

Looks like a colony of hydra (phylum Cnidaria), but that's all I can tell ya. Maybe give the U of A zoology department an email. Let us know!

Sorry, I know it is hard to tell. It is probably best viewed in 1080P on a fair sized screen.

I will keep the NSA, NASA, CIA or FBI in mind ahahaha!
