With ice fishing around the corner, I though I should let you guys know that the Mr. Heater Buddy Heaters are on sale at Canadian Tire.

Big Buddy is $115:

Buddy Heater is $104

Little Buddy is $75

I saw that it is also $80 for the little buddy at Lowe's. Looked like that was the regular price.

I price matched the Big Buddy at Lowe's and saved an extra $10. Could save $8 and price match the little buddy too.

Good price. Do this and you can warm/cook food.

Please provide more info on this item for the buddy heater.

A old 1/2 sized shoping cart was left on my fron lawn and I cut it up and made the grill that slips on and off. Used the wheels for a work bench. put it on and off in seconds. Bent a pc that slips under the handle and the two suports at the bottom / sides poke into holes allready on the heater. No mods to the heater needed. I wraped a small pc of welding blanket on the handle to prevent it from possibly melting. Easy peasy.

I like to pre-make scrambled eggs and bacon and cheese on toast. Wrap in foil and makes a nice hot snack on the ice, 10 mins to heat. Garlic sausage in foil is nice heated up too, 15 mins to heat through. I'm sure one could cook hot dogs and such also. Could probably boil water on it but never tried.

Two reasons I wrap in foil is,

# 1 - food needs to be wraped and foil helps keep the heat in the food.
# 2 - No grease driping on the heater.
Warm on one side for 5 mins or so and flip, warm the second side.

I pull the label off chunky soup and heat it that way too, stir with the spoon, wrap in paper towel when you take it off so you dont burn yourself and its ready to go. grill cheese is good too

I have 1 pc left of old cart. 16" X 11" if someone wants it. Free. NE. Edmonton. You would need other thick wire to make it work.

I've got something similar, throw a store bought lasagna on in the morning (setting low) and by lunch time she's ready to rock!
Smells so good as your fishing. Oh and bring extra bowls :)
Op- that's a steal for the big buddy

I've seen a guy cook a can of ravioli like this on a cata dyne heater. I don't know if he didn't open the can or it had a bubble in the middle
The cans insides had sprayed the walls of a new refridge building at a new gas plant lol.

You got to open the cans a bit or it can get dangerous.

the heater works great!
Nice idea with the grill.
Also what works well with the buddy heater, is burning the hair of your legs!

I just grabbed one of these. Thanks for posting this otherwise I would have missed out on a great deal.

$114.00 + GST, 4 gift cards used up. Paid $5.48 for a Big Buddy heater. Cant wait to try it out in the ice fishing tent or ground blind. Will make a good emergency heater if the vehicle breaks down in the winter too.

Get the hose and use a large propane tank. Way better. The little tanks don't last long and can get expensive if you don't/can't refill them.

That's the best advice. That heater chews threw the 1lbs bottles fast!

The milk crate helps for storage and transportation. Also set the heater on it in the tent for stablility and keep it off the ice. I guess one could also use the grate for drying/warming gloves and such. Might get a little too hot though and burn them up.
