Cold Lake/Meadow Lake Provincial Park

This winter a group of us around Christmas time are looking to make a fishing trip up to Cold Lake and possibly into Meadow Lake Provincial Park in Saskatchewan. I just had a few questions... Traditionally what is the ice like on Cold Lake at this time of year? Also looking to hopefully find some Lakers or Whitefish, has anybody fished for whitefish in these Saskatchewan lakes before? Thanks for the Help!

Normally no ice on Cold lake in December .

Ice fishing that early around Cold Lake is usually at little bear. It's been warm so far so unless November and December are cold then I'd be cautious there as well.
I've only ventured to meadow lake in February usually. I have caught some whites in Howe bay on pierce before. Never targeting them but got a few to bite.
