Left this morning at 5:30 am and got to lake around 7:30. We first walked out to see how or if there was any ice after walking on a few feet we started chipping at the ice to be suprized about the thickness. A good solid 3" of good black ice[emoji6] After making 4 holes we started fishing and after about 40 min we had a nice 15" girl and then three smaller males throughout the rest of the day. Amazing day and trip can't wait to do it again[emoji2] 114529114530114531http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/11/21/bedbcdbf6d304180ddba8e26e81c64de.jpghttp://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/11/21/7c68902257fc60c61858f64d93fd2401.jpg

Beside the green tree, just left of the fence...

Thanks

I value my life too much to go screw around on 3 inches of ice lol. Nice brookies, one of my goals this winter will have to be to try and get a nice size brookie.

Not much screwing around out there, it's all business [emoji6] we were well prepared for it and checked multiple places to be sure it was consistent all around the area before progessing to fishing. Once a year trip for me Rav so as much as its nice to just be outside obsorbing mother nature I was out to be successfull and have a few perfect fish for our smoker[emoji2] now I'd like to go find me a tiger trout next. I will be releasing any of those that I catch though for others to hopefully be able to enjoy.

This time of year, brookies will be in very shallow water. getting wet and cold sucks, but early ice brookies are worth it.

I won't be far behind, probably next week lol. Just wasn't in a hurry to get out this weekend since I was fishing in the kayak on a small lake last weekend.

Beautiful fish!!! 3 inches is plenty. I go out on open water all the time. Not sure why people associate falling through ice with death. That's laughable. Go watch Aaron Weibe do it over and over again... just for your entertainment and education. No use missing out on early ice. I'll be out there next week hopefully in the BC interior.
