Just wondering if anyone makes the trip to Saskatchewan for spring snows. I'm looking for any kind of information on this hunt, as I don't think I can wait until fall to hunt waterfowl here. I'm thinking a trip east for some white birds might be just what the doctor ordered. Thanks for the info and help.

I had some info on the sask hunt a couple years ago, according to my info.. The Snows are very spotty, hit or miss. and the don't hang out for long at all, keep moving north by the day. just because a field has geese one day, doesn't mean you will even see a goose withing 20 miles the next. I came to the conclusion it wasn't worth going for!

But that being said I love the bird hunting as well, if you want a partner We can find as much info as possible and plan a trip for the spring! I still have some of the info, but not sure if I will be able to find it or not!

Geese or no geese I would like to go check out the area for future potential. aka a possible fall hunt.
PM if interested

I have been every year since the season started in 1999. The best hunting in the spring is up the east side of SK. Just more geese there. there are plenty of hunts west of s'toon as well, just up to the same level.

SE SK, is good mid to late april, then as May approached you should probably get north of hwy16... give or take.

geese are more decoyable than in the fall. pass shooting is also a great way to fill the bag in the spring.

Guys:
I too would be interested in learning more about this hunt, and/or joining up with a few members of this board and planning a hunt. I dont have much as far as snow goose decoys maybe 2 doz, I have a couple laydown blinds and I am willing to travel. I will keep an eye I this thread see what comes of it, PM me if you are interested in having another hunter join your party.

Later,
Trevor

If you are looking for accomodations check out shadyvaleresort.com we are open year round. Might be a nice change from staying in a hotel in town. We also happen to be located in an excellent area for spring goose hunting. I don't offer any guiding but there are a number of outfitters nearby and the nieghbours are friendly.
