Good day at Chain Lakes today.
Got there at around 8:30 left at around 12. I caught and released around 16. Some of them were a pretty nice size for chain lakes.

velveta cheese works well

That has to be a staple for every trout pond and lake. Shrimp works good as does rainbow coloured power bait and the good old stand by worms.

Stocked lake. Limit of 5 trout, no size restrictions. Can't take anything but trout. I've never found the fish there to be very big. 12" is a big one there, at least for me.

Just a note for when you go the fishing is usually slow around noon so you can enjoy your lunch.

Vital Shok thanks again. Was a very busy morning. Wish I had not kept the 12's. One was 16 and released a few 14's

How thick was the ice and was anyone driving on yet? I can wait but I'm anxious to try farther up the lake than walking distance. Cheers

Does velveeta kill them fish eventually or just about INSTANTLY ??

I kept cleaned a nice FAT stocked rainbow a while ago and WOW; KERNEL corn galore and WOW she/he was just plugged solid with it ...... must have been HUNGRY !!! At least someone let it go for me just hours or days before so I could catch and keep it !!

Not sure now ...... but what is the MORTALITY of fish when we use other not so NATURAL baits as well in those stocked or WILD water-bodies anyone know ??

They just sink to the bottom or the birds then get 'em ?

About 12".

Thanks

I've caught them at Chain through the ice that were full of corn, usually means someone nearby was chumming with corn (throwing extra bait down the hole to attract fish).

I don't think velvetta would kill a fish it doesn't last long in water as we all know fish live in water.Thats why you need to put it on 9000 times a day.I think they say corn has the opposite effect.they cannot process corn and neither can we lol so it slows there eating down.
