Best Provider for Internet, tv and phone Perryvale, Ab

Good Evening fellow outdoors men and women:

I am finally taking the plunge and leaving the city for country life. Moving to just South of Athabasca near Perryvale, Ab.

I am off grid and no wires coming into the property.:sHa_shakeshout:

Need to set up my cell phone, television and internet. I've been researching the various companies online but have no idea what I'm looking at.:angry3:

Therefore, I am looking to you good folks for info.:test:

cell phone: I-phone with Telus. Service sucks in the country. Not taking Telus with me. My main concern is which phone company has good service in Perryvale. Will pick a plan once I find the right provider.

Internet: Have no idea where to start. Don't have line of sight to any tower. Looking to download off youtube, do some business, and research on the net.

Television: Watch the news, movies on shomi or netflicks, latest tv shows ie., Murdoch mysteries, NCIS (pick a version) etc, etc LOL.

A friend suggested using voip for a house phone. Any suggestions?

Again, my primary concern is about getting good reception, up and down load speed. Will pick the packages once you suggest the best providers.

Congratulations! Where are you moving from?

You will find that Telus is the best mobile provider in the area.
Mcsnet for Internet and VoIP phone.

I believe we have bell satellite.

Can't get phone reception in the Perryvale valley with Telus. Nearest tower is Rogers but no line-of-sight.

How is the download speed with Bell? Any stalling or freezing issues?

Try a Wilson booster or just forward it when you are at home

We don't have any issues with satellite tv other than cost...

You wanna live off grid.
You wanna live in the valley.
And you want all this cellular communication stuff.
And you want an 11 th hour solution.

First cellular communication in the middle of no where in the lowest point on the land is a costly solve. Try a elevated mast with a high end cell booster($500-$1000)

For TV and Internet in such an area I'd be thinking sattelite.

Now being off grid and having all these modern conveniences is likely gonna put a good strain on your electrical infrastructure, to have it work requires power, the better the system, the higher the power consumption.

Kind of like having your cake, and eating it too.

If you can't see a tower, and have no cell service, you are likely going to have to go satellite for all 3. Unless you either put up a tower and some equipment on top of it like a booster and Internet antenna or hope that a booster on the side of the house will get cell service. Does a Rogers phone work there? If so that will be your only choice for cell phone and can be used for Internet as well.
As far as being off grid goes, how much power have you allowed from your system for these electronics? depending how much tv and Internet you plan on doing you could be looking ata lot of amp horse tied up into entertainment. Make sure you factor that in.

I know where Perryvale is cause I used to hunt there around there. I got Telus service in the area but it depends where you are. Ask the locals who they get internet from. Voip phone is great. I use OOMA. Check it out. $4 per month unlimited nationwide calling. You have to buy their black box first ($100 = $150 at Costco). Of course you need to solve your internet service provider first. But I recommend OOMA.........works using regular telephone handsets.

Don't know if xplornet is an option there....if so, Do NOT use them, paid for thier service for aprox 5 years.....was a very very very bad experience.
Actually very very very doesn't even come close to explaining it.

I have a place just North of Perryvale about 7 km and there is a new tower at the corner of Meanook Rd and Twp Rd 640. Service is fairly reliable there now.

Got a really excellent power system. Lots of battery, solar panels. Power is not a problem.

Rogers will probably the way to go for cell phone as we get good reception from the tower just up the hill and across the highway from us. Neighbour gets great reception with Rogers. Everyone with Telus around me can't get service.

Will look into OOMA for voip.

Now for internet and T.V.. :sign0085:
