Long story short, we booked a week in March for the family at a brand new all inclusive in Cayo Coco. Over the last few weeks, people have been posting that they are being bumped from the resort a few days before, or even the day of departure. The reason is that they oversold, as the contractor is way behind on completing buildings the hotel operator thought would be ready. We won't know until the week of the trip, but if we are bumped, we will have the option of staying at the Melia Jardines Del Rey or Pestana Cayo Coco, choosing a different resort that Westjet Vacation books, or a full refund. We have been to cancun and the Mayan enough times, so wold like either Cuba or Dominican.

If you have been to a nice place in Cuba or DR, can you let me know where you went and what you liked about it.

Thanks guys.

x2 we were there a year ago. The food was definately great ..... the kids loved it .... we spent most of our time eating :)

Pools were great. Kids loved them too.

Service was great ... if you tip a bit you get full time service. For me "preferred club" was worth it for the extra pool, restaurant / bar and service but you could definately live without it.

The room we had was definately due for renovation but was adequate and clean and had an ocean view.

The sea weed was not bad when we got there but was terrible by mid week. They were hauling it away full time with 2 loaders by the time we left. There are lots of nice beaches nearby tho.

Couple of pics. If you want more info let me know

This is old but you may want to check the current sea weed conditions for DR.....

I should add that dreams palm beach also has a casino and fairly decent entertainment (I think every night).

Pic when the sea weed was starting to come in ... the beach was pretty much not usable after that point and we left the resort to find some other beaches (day trips).

That damn sea weed ruined our trip to the mayan last year. Two weeks of reeking, decaying seaweed. Gross.

We have gone to the Bahia Principe resorts in DR, Jamaica and Mexico and have always had good luck.

I have nothing but good things to say about the DR Paradisus Punta Cana resort, I got married there in September and loved it...I've been to a lot of all-inclusive resorts some cheap some 6 star; Mexico, Cuba, DR, Jamaica, a few virgin islands...and I'd rate it pretty high up there.

If you go to Cuba stay at an Iberostar, they are the tops in Cuba, I've been to all of them except Havana. The Iberostar Ensenachos really can't be beat.
