Seen a robin land on our hot tub cover today! Took a drink off the lid and took off before I could get a pic of her.
Then she hung around the rest of the afternoon seen her a few different times.
Jan 27. Wtf. Maybe spring is here!!!!!

I'm guessing you are in Southern Alberta?

I have been seeing a stellar jay in a valley close to Edmonton. The stellar jays' most northern range is supposedly Crowsnest country.

Stellers range is from California to Alaska mostly west of the east slopes though some range as far east as the foothills.

I stand corrected. Thanks for the clarification. I should have said east of the mountains instead of the stellar's northern range. This bird was no where near the foothills or mountains.

An local ornithologist I spoke with told me that Stellar's jays are rarely seen around the Edmonton area. In southwestern Alberta only 2 stellar's jays have been banded and not encountered since. In BC about 700 have been banded.

A very friendly natured bird. And beautifully colored.

Sorry for the derail... Robins were the topic.

One been hanging around our place all winter. Do they know something that we don't ? Saw an Orio a couple weeks ago too. Massive earth quakes and weather phenominum in the States ?
