So I rented an overnight shack on gull lake for December 16th with my wife and son. Do you think the ice will be safe?

Usually it's OK to walk on by then but not safe for vehicles.If the shack is out there,obviously it was strong enough for the owner to get that far.Stay away from any pressure ridges.:shark:

Oops that was a typo. I mean we are going this year February 16th

Ice was still 16 inches on Gull yesterday. Hasn't started to recede yet. You will be good to go till at least mid March would be my guess. I have never been chased off the ice by unsafe conditions yet before the end of the hard water season. First time for everything though.
