On a otherwise slow day on Gull, got into some nice Perch! The biggest was only 11", but just an absolute mini football. I've caught Perch to 12.5", but never bothered to weigh them, but when I grabbed this one I was surprised by the weight, threw her on the scale. A respectable 1.9lbs. Some beauty looking fillets for sure!http://www.outdoorsmenforum.ca/picture.php?albumid=2095&pictureid=9719 http://www.outdoorsmenforum.ca/picture.php?albumid=2095&pictureid=9720

2 lbs on an 11" perch? That's wild, I would have thought they would have to be a foot to weigh even one pound. Was it loaded with eggs?

That would be 1 lb 9 oz. isopod. Or a touch over pound and half.

Never seen an 11" Perch weigh that much in all my years. Makes me wonder if your scale is off. Sure doesn't look like a pound and a halfer to me. My 15-5/8" Perch weighed 1lb 13 oz caught roughly same time of year and was also full of eggs and could probably eat that one. Can't say as I trust that read out too much. I've caught a thousand 11" Perch in my day and never seen one weigh that much before. May want to test it out on something that has a certified weight on it to see how close it is. Can't say it's impossible but I've just never seen one that short weigh that much before.

Weighed twice, that scale is pretty new, and it gets used! Like I said I've caught longer Perch that weighed half of that one, and I have caught A lot of Perch out of Gull, never weighed a one..lol. I've never seen one with the Girth of that one! She had lots of meat, thick fillet on the ribs even! I should have measured the Girth...

Looks closer to 11.5 inches, last year I caught some 13 inch perch and they were 1lb 6 ounces, I would love to see or catch a 2 pounder but I might have to go to see the banned guy to se where they are if you know what I mean :):)

Beautiful perch! Awesome shape to it. Not to be rude, but scales are often inaccurate with smaller weights (<~2lb). An 11in perch would need a lead ingot in its belly to weight a pound and a half.

Nonetheless, congrats on your PB and great fish!

X2 on the At-a-Boy ..... as well, I imagine it was PPF / SPW now the Greasy-Ball-Wheel trying to get more attention/distraction on a Perch thread, a 1 post wonder!

Ya if it is, it is, not too worried about it. Weighed lots of fish, always seemed accurate. But definitely going to check it now..lol. I usually only use it on the Larger Walleye, Pike Or Lakers I get, so definitely a light weight.

Not true, I caught a 11 3/4" perch on Slave that weight 1lb 15oz 5 years ago. Looked just like a little eskimos football with fins. This was weighed on my walleye tournament scale, so very accurate (then officially weighed). One day I will beak 2lbs....Very nice perch btw, always been a few footballs in that lake.

I have caught perch that had bigger girth than length. I also know a few humans with this issue.
Decent fish. It's not a jumbo but a cube.
