Have heard rumors that Keho is ice free. With the great weather expected for this weekend does anyone know which southern Alberta water bodies might be fishable and which boat launches might be open to get some end of season open water fishing in.

Sorry, I don't intend to highjack your thread, but maybe people can add ANY ice free lakes? I've also heard that Payne Lake down south is open, or at least most of it.

No problem, be interesting to hear if there is any open fishable water.

Chin at the dam between Stafford last weekend. Stafford was open but Chin not quite open then. Talked to someone that was out there yesterday and it's wide open now.

Jensen Res. two weeks ago at the inlet, a little bit of ice left, very low water level, boat launch looked to be out of the water.

Canal below the spillway was wide open.

I'd say anything south of Calgary is now either partially open or completely open.

With the exception of small areas behind sand bars where there is minimal current, the South Saskatchewan River through Medicine Hat is wide open.

A friend told me that the lady at the Beaver Mines store said Lees Lake was wide open, Beaver Mines Lake about 1/2 open.

Wonder if this early ice off will impact the water temp this summer on these lake as they open month early.

My friend just reported that Beauvais is open, now he's heading up to Beaver Mines for a look.

You like sharing your fishing spots with an extra 1000 people? Come on, naming lakes is bad news. Beauvais and Beaver Mine's winterkilled anyways...

I didn't realize those two spots were secret locations.

No kidding, pretty sure they are listed in the Alberta fishing regulation, stocking report and Barry Mitchells fishing guide. Get a grip.

You folks are what's wrong with modern anglers. Go for a drive, those lakes need more attention like they need more mercury and noxious chemicals. I say you try Frank and Pakowki Lakes, those are the lakes you really need to hit up. 20 lb brown trout every day!

I hate to break this to you, but the whole purpose of this type of lake is to get used by the public. Guess what? My buddy kept a nice fish from Beaver Mines Lake today for dinner. The Horror! Want to know something else? It was nice to see some other anglers out today, Fish & Wildlife out checking licenses, and feel the sun on my face.

Nice post, no fish in those lakes, you should go fish them yourself instead of being an ass.

Thanks for the reports boys, I'll be there tomorrow with bells on. Mr. Cutthroat, I hope you don't give yourself a heart attack tonight stressing over how you won't have the lake all to yourself.

Did you get your boat out this weekend?

Just got back from a trip to the south and spoke with F&W officers. He was saying most reservoirs are ice free. Keho specifically, the boat launch was open but there was still some ice (according to him).

I was fishing the river and that was wide open.

Was down at travers today, open water as far as I could see from the provincial park. Not a piece of ice to be seen. Water is super low, didnt walk down the launch but not sure if theres any left under water.

Checked Cavan lake East of Medicine Hat today. The water is very low and all ice is gone. There was a couple of boats on, but I am not sure how easy to launch them. Seems like the boat launch is mostly exposed up due to the low water level.
