I went out shopping for split rings the other day so I could add a swivel to my slow-death hooks to stop the line twist. This year I have made over 250 pieces in preparation for the upcoming WCWT, each one costing less than $1.25 (retail) to make, plus my time - about 10 minutes. Some were a little more depending on component count.
But my gawd. The prices for pre-packaged crawler harnesses ranged from $3.00 each for no-name brands up to $5.00 each for Northland products - all with 2 hooks, 1 blade, 5 beads, 1 swivel and three knots on monofilament line.
Why buy that crap?. Then I looked at Rapala stick baits until I spotted the Live Target. Anywhere from $12.00 to $17.00. Each! I had to leave in shame. I can't afford that. Who can?
And I didn't find any split rings :(
