lake chub i think
Lake Chub.
The positive identifying characteristics are the small barbel at corner of a terminal mouth, with a flat, rounded head.
Some Flathead minnows look very similar but don't have that piece of skin (barbel) at corner of mouth.

Think ill start keeping them then and use them when I go to larger lakes for larger fish, would I salt them before I freeze them or just freeze em?

Freeze em as is.
Salt em if you want to eat em:)

they are very fun to catch if you do like i do, like a kid just a stick line tiny float and hook. sometimes i target them just for the kid fun aspect. but for the freezing process i have heard chubs have a tendency to fall apart at the belly after freezing but the rest stay intact.

Soak in brine before freezing. Firms them up.
