Took a drive with the misses today to Crawling Valley ... where we struck out, one bite each nothing landed.

On our way home we passed what I always thought was just a big slough since it looked so shallow but I saw people with fishing rods so I figured I would see what the Google had to say.

As the title says apparently it's Dalemead Lake. I was curious what if anything is caught here?

I did a search of the forum and people were talking about ice fishing there but it didn't seem as though anyone had any luck.

Hammer handle pike. But it's a fun little lake when time is hard to come by

Always wondered what hammer handle meant ... Litterally the size of a hammer handle I assume but someone said that about chestermere and everyone I caught there were actually pretty good sized and not what I would expect it to mean.http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160531/79e8ba3af3a4c589b5626a257fab76d8.jpg

I've never had any luck on the highway side of the lake but seem to do pretty good on the north side. largest I've caught from there was 30 inches, but most of them seem to be in the 15 to 25 range and the most I've caught was around 20 in a few hours. I do best with a good ol' five of diamonds in size 0 with a single hook or the orange and silver one in the same configuration. (single hook is just my preference). :happy0180:
