I finally without a doubt broke the 40 in mark. She was 44 in long and weighed either 21 or 27 lbs(buddy couldn't read the scale clearly and I didn't want to keep her out of the water any longer). Either way she is my new personal best and she must have ruined me because I caught a nice 36 incher after and he felt small lol.

Awesome fish ... a little envious I caught my personal best yesterday and yours could bite it in half hahaha.
You must have the best fishing karma of anyone on here with the monsters you have posted in the past.

Here's my little big one.http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160605/12182f447cb643f6e059b024add34b86.jpg

Congrats on the fish! If it's ruined now for you, chase the jacks with a fly rod! It's freakin awesome. Even a 3-4 lber is a good fight and challenging.

I'm glad you got a pic!

Here's my little big one.

We all start somewhere. I have put a lot of time and effort into becoming a better angler the last 3 years and it seems I am slowly figuring the fish out.

The funny thing is that in some ways I miss the old days when I was just happy to catch something. Back then every day was a great day, now I set my expectations too high.

Awesome, and in a canoe too.

Kayak ;)

Is that a Hobie? And does it have TWO screens?

Hobie Outback. The second screen you can see the corner of is on my buddies kayak which is a similar setup.

There probably is a bigger Pike eyeing that tasty morsel wearing a goofey hat sitting so close to the water level. :scared0015:

Just funnin with ya !

Sometimes I feel that way too. That's when I like to take some one who doesn't fish as often or in as interesting places as I do. It's extremely enjoyable to watch them fish and the exitement in their voices as they catch sizes and numbers that they've never caught before. That's when I realize how much I love my time on the water.

That hat is one of the best purchases I have made lol. I bought it for fishing down in Florida and it does wonders to protect a guy from sunburns and also to keep the wind out of a guys ears. Nice and light and you can fold the neck flap underneath and just wear it as a regular cap if you want.

21 or 27 .... who cares that's a great pike.

She would have had 3-4lbs of eggs in her not long ago.

As a point of reference - a 43" caught a few years back (probably from same lake) was 19lbs - roughly same girth on a post spawn female.

Must have been fun to land that in a Kayak.

Congrats.

Great fish, congrats!! Probably 21lbs is the more likely of the two. A 40" pike is usually in that range to get up to 27lbs they are usually closer to 47". In the fall they are of course fatter for their weight and I think I know of a 26lb pike that was 42" but it was a tank, all shoulders and belly with no taper to the tail section. lol

Either way it's an awesome fish and your personal best, so again congrats!! :sHa_shakeshout: I love catching and seeing pics of big pike, thanks for sharing it with us.

MY BAD!! Somehow I read that it WAS 40" not the 44" that you posted. Yeah probably closer to 27lbs. Again, awesome fish!!!

VERY VERY NICE FISH. 21 pounds would be the weight of a spawned out 44 inch pike by the way.

Have a great season

Yeah my big laker was 23 lbs so we figured 21 might be right. Just seemed low to us consider the thickness and depth(way bigger in every regard then the 15 lbers I have caught previously).

It is going to be tough to beat this one, next goal will have to be a 46 incher I guess although it would be nice to jump right to a 4 fter lol.

Nice fish... Monster of epic proportions. I'm sure glad I don't have your problem. I can still go out and catch small fish and have fun. A fish is a fish is a fish. Its all a tug which is our drug. The hollers and craziness just get a little larger depending on the size of fish, haha!

I need to go there and catch some monsters. Looks like the launch was good.

If people don't mention the name of the lake - it's likely they are not looking to share that information with the public on the internet.

There is no better way to destroy a great lake then to post a monster fish and tell everyone where the lake is.

If he chooses not to share that information - don't be offended - and don't take it personally. I can't blame him.

Awesome Pike Rav! My PB is 42" and you just reminded me that it's time to go target them...been fishing those pesky walleye that I love to eat from time to time, but nothing like the catch of a great Northern.

Thanks for posting!

I wish but not with that little girl. Pike needs to be 48 in to have a chance based on past results.

It worked decent. If you want a nice one buy a musky bump board, can find them online but will cost around 100 bucks that is why I cheaped out and rigged this one up this way.
