Trim not working

I have a 97 Legend with a 100 hp Merc.

Trim won't work consistently and won't go down. I can hear the motor/pump working and will then work after you wait a bit. Will always come up which is the strange thing as that is when the load is on hydrolic ram.

Any advice or ideas?

Had something similar happen to a bayliner out drive.
MY problem was low hydrolic fluid in the pump.
The reservoir for the fluid had a small crack and had to be replaced.

Had a situation last year with my OptiMax.
The trim switch would work on the leg but not the one on the console, I found corroded connections on the leads from the console switch, replaced connectors with a dab of dielectric grease and back in business.
