Buddy of mine called me up Saturday morning and threw out the challenge: $20 derby head to head, NSR. Most fish wins.
So, I'm hitting nothing but small Wallys and padding my numbers and I throw out a 1/4 jig that I custom made. Seconds later..hit what I thought was a log or a big branch...So I'm reefing on this freaking thing it as I'm reeling it in and no resistance. Then, as I get it close to shore, my line darts west and I feel a huge yank: the fight was on.
Landed this: Personal Record Pike. 8.1 pounds, thick as a log!!! I won the derby too 7 - 3 :)
