Spray is usuall always unsafe lol I have been blown off Spray in my 12 foot tinny with an 8 horse more times than I care to remember. But ice fishing wise it should be good well into April.

Last year, we fished April 18th or 19th and it was a bit soft but not bad. The following weekend I heard it was wide open. I think there was 12" of ice or so and we had to jump over the 2 feet of water on the edge to get to the ice. There were quite a few people out there as well, so it was OK for us to try.

Is there any deeper water straight out from the driftwood boat launch? Everytime I go, I seem to only find about 40 feet. I would like to find some depths between 60-100.
Any suggestions?

off the boat launch to the middle of the lake and than to the right.....I found a good break from 45 to 60feet.....

from the boat launch to the left....about 600m.....and where ever you go - it`s in the 60feet range :))))

The further left you go, the deeper it will get. Look here: http://sunsite.ualberta.ca/Projects/Alberta-Lakes/library/view_section.php?lake=115&section=2&type=Fig

Haven't been there for a few weeks, just wondering though if you will need an extension on your auger. Last time I was there the ice was 30". Was at newell lake last week end and the ice was almost 36"
