So ,,,, I picked up a second hand boat , motor and trailer for what I figure to be a decent price.
The motor is a APS 9.9 4 stroke ..... It crapped out after 15 minutes of running .
I've read up on them a bit and get the idea that they are a
Yamaha knockoff .... Can anyone tell me if there is any truth to this ????

That's what they claim on the net, that their parts are inter changeable with Yamaha.

Check with a Yamaha dealer they may be able to help you.

Here's what little I know about them on these, and a few other threads I've read recently .... sorry but there is no good news on these to report that I can find.

- It sounds like quite a few work for a couple weeks to a month before they fail, many, many people have complained.

- The APS is a cheap Chinese knock off of a Yamaha / Parsun engine. It has no warranty beyond what the dealer themselves imply/provide.

- Many distributors no longer carry the APS motors simply because this grossly inferior product seems to fail and leave their customers angry - which is not good for business.
