I would be more on board with gar than carp for sure...

They put gar in a place like Blood Indian, that has a carp problem, and you can kiss the trout fishery goodbye for sure. Like trying to put out a fire with gasoline.

I doubt the alligator Gar would last long in the great white north.
I don't know why pike or walleye aren't a control option.:thinking-006:

You are probably right - the native range of the Gar does not take it too far north - likely too cold for them is my guess.
Walleye and Pike can't control the population that has a growth rate more than twice that of a pike or walleye, spawns at record rates and that can grow to 10 lbs-12lbs in 3-4 years.
Some Asian carp reach 80-90lbs. I doubt any pike is going to eat that one.
Swarms of these things that fly out of the water are pretty damn big - I'd say 15-20lbers are common - at that point we will need bull sharks.

We need a trendy restaurant in Edmonton and Calgary to start selling organic free range Alberta ethical carp dinners at 50$ a plate.

I'm sure the carp could be caught and processed as frozen fish cakes, or even pet or livestock feed.
