There isn't a boat launch at spencer. There might be a quad trail in to it but that's all.

No boat launch at Spencer. Quad in only lake. Access from the north at the heart lake tower if your brave enough. If not so brave head in from the south from Seibert. If you go from the North it'll be a trip you'll never forget.

Spencer is almost entirely within the Cold Lake Air Weapons Range - just a sliver of the west end that is not. The regs indicate that it is only open for fishing on weekends. And it is technically "not permitted" (I doubt it is enforced?) to even enter the range to access it. I have spoken to people who have ATV'ed in with tinners aboard, from the Seibert end (off the Seibert road towards its end and over seismic lines), and it is difficult to see how one could do so without entering the range, but ...? Their report was that the walleye population was thick - very easy to catch many, but nothing very big - some pike, but nothing big. So, compared to the other lakes in the area, is the trip even worth the effort? I am interested if anyone on here has ever actually been there and done that (?).

It would be a wet one this year with all the rain. A 14 ft. tinner on a trailer with ATV tires would give you somewhat more than a fighting chance. Lots of winch power with extra slings and power saw are necessarily a requirement. Incidently Heart Lake Tower is at the end of the road that goes past Touchwood campground.

Some diehards in the past have barged their gear on a raft across Touchwood southeast from the boat launch to the winter trail and gone in that way. You come out on the west shore. There is a muskeg to cross. Again, power saws, winch power and slings, if you would choose this adventure(experiment).

It could be an epic adventure that would probably bear telling to the grandkids!!!!
