View Full Version : Need some help with a new set up

Hey guys,

I have a 25-50 Zeiss Varmint plex Locking turrets mounted Talley extra high mounts directly on a Remington 7mm Sendero.

I went and sighted it in this morning and dialled it hitting the middle of the target at 100 yards. I went to move it up 3 inches (usually what I do at 100 with my other rifles) and there was no more room to move the scope up. It was maxed out exactly where it was. My immediately though was the mounts were to low however as you can see from the pictures it sure does not look like it.

This is my first "long range rifle" and really don't know much about these types of scopes. What am i missing? the instructions with the scope don't really show me much that I don't already know

Lose the talleys, get a 20moa rail and mount it as low as possible in quality rings.

Ant chance that the rings/mounts aree not on in the correct location.
Remington usually has the back set up being taller.

Lose the talleys, get a 20moa rail and mount it as low as possible in quality rings.

X2. Possibly some Warne rings since weight isn't an issue.

Ant chance that the rings/mounts aree not on in the correct location.
Remington usually has the back set up being taller.

Can't make a mistake which goes on the from and which goes on the back for Remington Talleys as the front one has more curve that the back one.

Do you mean move it forward 3"? You will need a rail in order to do that.

I believe the zeiss lock turret has a zero stop pin that limits to 16moa or something. Remove the pin and you get up to 70moa I believe. Not sure on exact numbers but that it is your problem. Remove that pin, which I believe is under the turret cap and you'll have all kinds of adjustment.

The pin limits the turret travel to just under one turn, which is less than half of the available adjustment. Remove the turret, and either reposition the intermediate piece so that the two pins are 180 degrees apart, or just remove the pin from the intermediate piece. The pin is screwed into the intermediate piece, and is easily unscrewed.

Look at the pin on the intermediate piece in his fingers, and the other pin on the turret mechanism, and this will make things much easier to understand.
