I haven't had a chance to hit the Bow yet this year BobLoblaw, how is the ice down there right now? Some nice fish BTW.

BobLoblaw,
Nice shots some real good fish there!

Scott N,
Ice through the city is no issue but down river of police is still sketchy with some big ice banks...saw some car size chunks of ice breaking off on Thursday

Nice fish man. What is your favoriate fly for this time of year. I usually fish the bow in the Cochrane area but have to wait for it to open up. I'll start by using beaded black or brown wooly buggers, as it gets warmer can go to smaller beaded nymphs

...as long as it's a San Juan Worm!:D
There's always a SJW on my line, along with a small nymph(or two)
I'll switch the nymphs to find what's working, but some sort of worm is always part of the deal. Yesterday, I got one trout on a size16 olive Tungstud; the rest were on a medium size worm. Only got 3 whities this morning- all on the worm. Last Friday, I got most of my fish(including the 25" brown in the pics)on the Tungstud nymph.

Hey, y'all!
The rainbows in the original post in this thread were caught on Friday of last week. I took a friend from work to try & break his Bow River jinx; he was real excited to land a 22" rainbow on his flyrod. He went back the next morning, & talked his missus into coming out with him. He caught a few whites on the flyrod, while she threw a Rapala on a spincast rod. Not just any spincast rod- a hot pink rod with a matching reel that flashed a bunch of lights when she turned the handle!
So wrong on so many levels...
But, it worked...

Maybe it's time to get a pink rod'n'reel with flashing lights, fellas...:p

Those are some nice trout bob. I think I am going to try my luck on the bow this weekend and maybe hit bass pro at the same time. I've never fished the river yet so it should be interesting.
