wow, very patient wolves. I would have thought they would just finish the job.

They will not risk getting injured if they do not have too. The prey is immobile, they will just wait.
I was taking a look at a wolf book the other day and it described wolves as "quick and efficient killers". I guess the writers of that book did not see these pictures. Efficient yes, quick...not so much.

while deer hunting this past november i wounded a deer and could not find it as it was about 15 min before dark. we found it the next morning half eaten by wolves, we tracked the back to where the ambush and attack started and it was very well orchestrated.there was 6 wolves and they attacked from all directions.they pulled the deer down twice and the deer wasnt giving up easily, there were huge areas of snow kicked up and trampled down. both times the deer would get up and run about 5 yds and them get taken down again. the wolves hauled the deer down again and started feeding, the wolf tracks were all ice from the snow melting under the wolves feet. the deer got uo once more and was then taken down foor good. i was amazed at how much they ate in such a short time and how well organized it was
I've seen coyotes eating a fawn deer as it was being born. Animals have no remorse.
On the flip side, if the grocery store shelves were empty tomorrow what do you think our cities would look like after a week?

As far as I'm concerned it is no different than the fairview late season hunt on half starved mule deer...Bon apetite.

Ya, cause you prolly shoot a couple legs off the deer and let it stand there and bleed to death while you walk around it.:\
If you don't mind were was that photo taken

I find it a shame.
Why would somone let that many nice wolves get away with only shooting a camera.
