Yesterday morning, we took Elk11 up on his gracious offer to join him and his pup Butch out at Daysland release site. Beautiful weather, great dog work, and some fun shooting gave us 6 pheasants. This morning we headed west of the city to help a friend fill his moose tag. At 6:15 am, as we were stopped at the lights between the River Cree and Costco, a young whitetail buck jogs literally across the crosswalk with nose and tail down, right into the Costco parking lot. We couldn't believe our eyes:) Then we got out to our spot and a few hours later we were dragging a bull moose out of the bush. A really good 24 hr period making memories with good friends and my son. Doesn't get a heckuva lot better.

Wow , sure heard of quartering a moose , but never halfing it , ( maybe that's what a " well placed shot " with a " 243 " does :)

Yes I would certainly agree , that was a very well spent 24 hrs

Trumps & Clintons may come and go , but family memories are forever .

Halving is when it is too heavy to drag whole and not heavy enough to quarter:)

Nice job, congrats on a great couple days.

Was west today, only seen one buck. Checked on an old back woods clearing i haven't been to in 10 yrs, still full of elk, deer and moose tracks and good sign. If only we could get some snow to push them elk out of the hills.

Back west tomorrow.
