Any ideas why some lakes close for fishing from sun down to sun up in the summer months?

I read this somewhere. It was a direct result of extensive poaching going on on those specific lakes.

i was told it was to protect walleye fisheries making a come back. made sence to me.:lol:

I heard it was because of poaching, as well. Pretty hard to get a guy for keeping illegal fish if you can't see him!

I dont like the rule makes it tough to go fishin after work at nite. I'm sure the poachers will still be there just wont be anyone else out there to report or check on them.

I agree, and the fishing starts to get real hot right around that time. Hard to pull the lines up when you are gtting bite after bite.
