Varmitr, coined it and well it kinda sounded neat, so I plagerised it.

Underrated for sure 200grs. to 2500fps, 225grs. to 2400fps, and 250's to 2300fps.

Sight any of the pills in at 3" high at 100yds, and you'll be between 4" and 5" low at 250yds.
and carrying some 2000+ftlbs of energy at 200yds.
(only 1650ftlbs for the 200's)

For a tight cover knock em flat kinda rifle what else would you need.
Does'nt leave you frustrated if Ol' Brutis sticks his nose out on the line while your on your way into your stand either.

Nice work Dick. Its good to see old timers like the .358 coming back. According to several US Rifle makers, alot of the older more "Classic" chamberings are making a strong come back. .284 Win., 7X57, .358 Win., .358 Norma, & .458 Win. just to name a few.

I have a short action Remington, that when I look at it, it more & more tries to convince me that it may need to be "Reborn" as a .284 Win.

Seems to be Nostalgia may be winning in favor of Sizzle!

Nice...last time I used that particular rifle/cartridge I shot a 5X6 Rosevelt elk...knocked him back into the last century!! Your's looks nicely set up. Im jealous, I might have to look into getting something like that for myself.

Sweet Rifle! Years ago I had a Savage 99c in .358 Win, I still rue the day I sold that rifle. I have approached the buyer several times to see if I could buy it back from him, but he won't part with it... .

Finally got the rig out to the range.
And low and behold Some dumb ***** forgot to properly tighten the scope rings onto the bases(phone call in the middle of mounting the scope)
Even with the loose scope I was averaging around 2", 5 shot groups.
I noticed the loose scope with only 2 factory loads and 5 reloads left to shoot. So 3 of the 8 went to regaining zero, and then I shot this 4 shot group.(1" grid)

Not to shabby since the Heavy Duplex reticle on the scope covers almost that much area at 100yds.
I think I'm gonna like this rig.

My new Tikka T3 Light in 338 win mag. D Henry put a camo stock on it, Leupold 3 x 9 x 33 ultra light scope, Tally rings and bases, and a muzzle break.

Nice work Roebag. What make is the stock? Did he blueprint the Action as well?

Apparantly, you found the recoil to be too much, but have you ever considered a Mercury Recoil Suppressor, rather than the Drum plitter?

The stock is a Tikka stock from a camo stainless, he just swapped the original black one with the camo one.

I never even tried it, without the break. I know what my 340 is like without the break so I just told him to put one on.

I have no idea what a mercury recoil suppressor is.

No blue printing done.

I bought this gun because I going to lighten my load this fall.

Lighter Bino's. Not done, but next on the list.

I have them in 2 of my Rifles. One in my 7mmSTW (not for recoil, but for faster target acqisition after the shot), & one in my .416 Rem. Mag. Although they add a little weight (which is what your trying to lose), they do help quite a bit. Some guys who shoot big stuff .458 Win., .458 Lott etc. put 2 in the stocks, one in the Butt & one in the Fore-Arm.

I would bet, that with a little time you & most any other Adult Shooter could get used to the recoil of a .338. That way, you can eliminate the ear shattering effect of the Brake, which more often than not, induces its own flinch.
