Air Travel with Marcum Flasher?

Does anyone know if you can bring a flasher with battery on a plane?

The flasher would definitely be allowed. A quick search shows that SLA batteries can be hit or miss depending on the airline carrier.

You could take it without a battery and buy one where you are going or check with the airline you plan on flying with and see what they say.

I did this about 10 years ago, flew to Winnipeg for an icefishing trip. I think it set off every red flag at security because it was sure a gongshow. In the end, they let me take the flasher on the plane but no battery.

I flew with mine last year. Carried on the flasher. Put the battery in my checked luggage. Just had to make sure that the terminals were covered with tape.

This was air Canada and flying yyc to Kamloops.

Out of curiosity did they specifically state that the battery had to go in checked luggage? I would have thought it would be ok to carry on too.

I was not told specifically that it had to go in checked, but I did not want to lose the battery to an overzealous CATSA agent. I knew for certain it was allowed in checked bags
