Satellite Imagery of Private Land

I have permission to hunt on private land that contains a large forested portion. I am thinking of changing my hunting strategy from field edges to bush hunting and I don't have that much time to scout before season so I thought satellite imagery could help me decide where to set up a camera or two next year. I would like to get a more detailed or better quality shot than what I can get from the Google Earth shots that I found online. Does anyone have any recomendations or experience with this? Are there any limitations? What are the costs? Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks

A fellow I know used this strategy this fall to hunt deer in a new area. He drove for a couple of hours only to see fences and no trespassing signs. Nothing beats eyes on the ground.

Do you know anyone with a drone? With the land owners permission, you could have someone fly over the area that you are interested in, and have them take aerial photos. With the right software, they could even do a 3D map of the area showing elevation changes.

I would have a hard time deciding where to put cameras based on satellite images. They will give you a good idea of a new area but nothing beats actually being there, especially if your switching to bush hunting. A lot of places I go are under a thick canopy and you can't see anything on google earth. The snow on the ground will tell you more on where to pinpoint your spots to hunt next year, showing you the game trails, tracks and beds much easier, in my opinion

We have obtained satellite imagery of specific land for project which at one time was called Iunctus Geomatics out of Lethbridge. At the time you could order certain images and if they didn't have it they would take an image the next time the satellite passed over. The company has gone through several mergers and name changes and relocated head office to Germany I believe but try searching for Planet Labs, Blackbridge, or Iunctus....

Sat photos are invaluable to scouting, especially if you can't spend a lot of time there. Of course you need to know the general area and conditions as well as have permissions lined up in private land.
I spend hours looking at google maps and I can't begin to tell you to number of times I find a place on satellite, go there and kill something. Of course it doesn't always work but I can say it does more often than not.
