Wondering how the ice is. Usually a bad ice heave at Canyon. Hoping to head out with the side by side on the weekend. Thx

I drove by Canyon Creek and nobody was on the ice. Someone told me there was an ice ridge and it's not possible to get out to the drop off.

I'm planning on going there on Monday morning. Could you post an update on ice condition?

There's a good 12" crack right at the shoreline which was open today, used a couple of 2x6s to get the side by side across it. Solid 18-20" of stone cold black ice everywhere we drilled. Zero snow cover made walking very treacherous!

Thanks. I'm going to throw in some scrap lumber. Never thought of that!!
I've got some of those traction aids so I'll make sure to throw them in too.
Will post an update when I go.
18 - 20 sounds great. It really made ice with no snow. Good to hear.
I still like to use the side by side. If I don't the wife will think I don't need it!!

The big crack was refrozen enough for ATVs. At least 20" of ice. There was one spot that was cracking really loud as I went over it. Kinda scary.
Wind came up from the east and made it miserable with the blowing snow. Only stayed a couple of hours. Saw lots of minnows and had a couple of bites but missed them. Have to work on my technique!!
