Was at Haig lake today drilled 50 holes seen 3 fish fished for 4 hours 3 of us no bites over the past 4 or 5 years fish are becoming more and more scarce to many people gill netting. This lake isn't big enough for this .They are going to have to stop all fishing there for awhile :sign0176::mad0100::mad0030::angry3:

Your winter results don't surprise me, however I disagree completely about the state of the lake as I've had great success there the past 3 yrs during open water and very limited results in the winter time.
They are there in decent sizes and numbers just gotta work for them a little more in the winter is all.

We have fished all over that lake every year at all times of the year for the past 24 years at all times of the year in the past years or so the fishing has gotten progressively slower we have spent 12 hour days there and gone all over the lake and never get even close to your limit 10 years ago it was easy to go there and get your limit anytime of the year on jack or whitefish and walleye .please share if you may know something I don't :):happy0180::happy0180:

We Used to go just at the last wknd of March (didn't go last winter) and we don't leave the wall tent til 1/2 hr beofre dark and never had a problem getting our limits most nights. 3 yrs in a row we spent 12+ hrs on the lake with no fish until the sun was below the treeline!

you dont think drilling 50 holes is going to affect your fishing? only thing that is attracted to drilling is hammerhandle pike, the rest vacate the premises as far as Ive seen. 4 hours isnt enough time to write the lake off you need to spend a lot more time than that

We have fished that lake for over 15 years drilling 50 holes here there and everywhere don't affect anything because there has been times with over 30 to 40 people each of them drilling an average of 6 holes a peice on that lake and still catch fish so that idea isn't the issue the issue is to many square nets over the years lakes smaller then slave lake shouldn't be netted or commercial fished at all. Look at joussard and cutbanks if to many holes was the case then it should be the same there and it's not
