Hey wondering if anyone here has actually tried to prove the almanac or lunar tables best days to fish charts. Have you found that they work? Or even kind of work? Would you say that the charts are good unless bad weather approaches? What do you guys think????

The only thing the moon affects is ambient light, if local conditions allow (no clouds). This may help or hinder feeding activity depending on the species you are after. There are no magical mystical magnetic moon effects on the prairies :rolleye2: Most alberta lakes are not large enough to experience any significant lunar induced changes. Local conditions will determine the bite. And yes I've had many great days of fishing that disagreed with the calendar, one year I kept a record to prove to someone that the calendar is hogwash because of an ongoing argument.

On the coast where things are governed by the tides it plays a larger role.

wind direction and barometer biggest factor.

I find the fishing times in the iFish app, which are calculated from solunar calendars, to be reasonably accurate for forecasting activity. Modified of course by local conditions, but a good reference.

I check my calendar all the time, and when the day off comes, I go fishing. Usually works pretty good. The rest is BS, in my opinion.

Haven't had much luck myself with calendar. Couple years ago I went out almost every weekend ice fishing. Always check the star rating on iFish and it wasn't accurate at all. The true only consistent thing I found is family day weekend I alway have great fishing going on four years in a row. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170113/27f4b29971b01cee9d71feff61c73fd3.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170113/8a7665464beb72e4e1a8ec0aedcb4d57.jpg
