Havent been out this year, but here is a warning.

We did a night on the lake last year, minus 10 the whole time we were there, and some exploring a bit by walking. Most of the lake at that time was 18" of good ice. We also found open water 50 feet out from shore, spring maybe. Not too sure.

So I would be extremely careful if you are planning on driving on.

my 2 cents.

That area has experienced some extreme weather this year, much colder than last year. I would be very surprised to hear of the same thing occurring this year. That said, there's nothing wrong with taking the same precaution every time you're out on the ice.
