Flood Water Proven Tires

I am looking at purchasing some fishing tires, and i specifically want the best flood water capable design. I am thinking that tall and skinny would be best. Some brands that im looking at are Duratracs, BF K02s, or Comforser CF3000s.

Are 4 ply tires going to have sidewall punctures or seperation issues from breaking trail in partially frozen flood water?

i wouldn't go with 4 ply on a tire unless you are just traveling the highways, i run the KO2 tires and have had no issues with traction on ice, gravel or pavement.

4 ply is a bad idea. I like a 10 ply myself if possible.

I am running tall skinny 33" duratracs under my ford one ton diesel. All 4 corners studded. I deal with flood water almost every day and they haven't let me down yet.

Found a deal on K02s 980 installed in Elk Point. But they are 3/32nds less tread than Duratracs and not studdable... :p

Would ice get stiff and rough enough to hurt 4 plys?...seems like at that point you would just chain up anyways.

the jagged ice will tear the sidewalls on cheap 4 ply tires.

Its not the flood water, well not initially. Its when you try to get back and the cut you made on the crossing has now filled with water and froze solid like two rails.

On either side will be deep snow and more flood water.

Biggest problem in flood ice conditions is that you are fighting hard to get going against the resistance. If you spin out, its a slush fest to get going. If its below zero, you are now frozen up very solid.

I have used V Bar tire chains for years in deep snow, flood ice conditions. You grab and you go, that's all there is to it. However, put the tire chains on BEFORE driving onto the lake. Trying to do it in 4 inches of water and slush is impossible unless you have a wet suit or waders.

X2 for chains. For speeds and surfaces you're talking about I don't think you can do better than chains. Make sure they fit right and practice before you're counting on them. Chains+ballast like a quad and you're looking pretty good.
