How's Gleniffer Lake for fishing year round?

I think it's part of the flood plan... Very low water levels. I've never thought it to be much of a fishery... Not sure where you are coming from but I would say you are going to pass much better lakes.

Glennifer is tough, I have only fished it in the summer, but it is tough. There are some decent walleye in there, good luck. On my last outing there I landed one walleye, maybe 20". I would start as far north-west as possible and spread out from there.

Why exactly is it tough? Just not many fish in there?

I think the way the level of water changes has something to do with it. Fished every inch of that lake and can honestly say it is IMO more difficult than Ghost by Cochrane.

While there are some walleye in it, my best luck was on the west side running along the Dixon trout pond, which btw will give you more action than Glennifer for sure.

There are trout but the only ones I ever encountered were at the dam and I was fishing deep with down riggers.

A lot better lakes to fish that this one for sure.

Good luck

How big are the trout right by the pond?

Never caught a trout by the ponds in Glennifer. you have to fish the Dixon pond.

It has rainbows and suckers and usually has a decent amount of ice.

Anybody know if the ice is off yet?

We have a spot at carefree and fish it fairly often. It has it's good spots. The most common thing we pull out of there is pike. Ice will be off...but there won't be much water in the lake yet. Takes a while to completely fill up.

Some ice is off. Won't be able to launch a boat yet. Fishing there is a challenge. Now is a good time to scout the bottom for structure, for summer.
