Hi there guys!
Here is my fresh edit of me building the ice fishing rod from antenna and bed leg. It turned out even better than I expected, and looks pretty nice in my humble opinion. This is my first attempt to build something like that.
Also this is the first video with my commentaries, hope my accsent not gonna ruine that :)

Can't wait to catch something on it! So far I tried once, without luck at Slave lake.

Thank you for your time!

I was going to say it looks very Swedish, until I saw your location! Nice rod!

Thanks man! Yeah, Swedish flag has same colors, just different shape, so it's easy to mess off.
So this one stands for Ukraine!

It's excellent!

Well done. Ingenious use of repurposed odds and ends.

I'd bet a paycheck the first big fish kinks that thing. What's the bend like? Put some line on it and load er up. If it can't form a decent bend to maintain pressure you might as well be using a notched painters lathe like the old boys do.

I don't know man, you might gonna lose your paycheck, this rod bents pretty damn good. I guess we'll see what it capable of after this weekend, as I'm going out fishing this Sunday. I'm gonna keep you posted....

if you have those fibreglass driveway markers over there you could use one to build a heavy duty pike rod with too the same way. I make ice rods from broken rod pieces I have around too. I have the top of my first uglystik that I stepped on and broke inside a kids uglystik base that broke too. softer tip for walleye and whites and lots of backbone for big pike too Ive caught a lot of fish on it

Yes, I know what you saying Wayne, I would have much better results using a broken rod piece, etc. And it would be way more sensitive and stuff. But the idea was to build a rod from non kinda fishing material, from antenna. In fact my next build gonna be out of broken fly rod, I want to make an ultra light 5 footer for the soft water season.

This is just expirement, I guess...

Any rod builders here?
I wonder where do you guys get all supply? Like guides and tips? I got these from Fishing Hole, but they pretty much out of them now, besides they weren't that great. Is there a shop in Edmonton like this?
Or which site you order from?

Thanks!

Well done Angler! You'll get it christened with a fish soon enough. To hell with all the un-believers!
