Taking a buddy out Saturday for his first ice fishing experience.

Everytime I take him somewhere good in the summer-we get skunked and he seems quite disappointed.

So I figure if I take him somewhere with a poor chance of success then we can keep his expectations low.:(

I don't expect that you will want to share your very worst spots-but somewhere terrible would be much appreciated!

I expect to get skunked, but doing it somewhere new would be lovely.

Suggestions within 3 hours of Calgary?

You could try the saddledome, I hear the ice is thick enough and the locals aren't having much success.

I see Sundancefisher on the Forum sometimes has a perch bonking fest at Lake Sundance. Maybe get in on one of them. Sounds like lots of action and good perch to eat.
