I was pleasantly surprised by the nice taste, especially considering the color of the lake water. Let's see your catch on the table:)

The color is tannins from the muskeg. Chip has cold water springs that keep the fish going, so they will taste better than the ones from a shallow prairie lake.

How did the new Vexilar FL8 work for you. Now that you have tried all three what are your thoughts?

It's always bothered me when people say that this or that lake produce fish that don't taste good or are "muddy" tasting. Prepared properly any fish can be delicious. Yours look very tasty.

There you go. My boy on the right and his buddy from school on the left who'd never caught a fish. Chip Lake is certainly the place to take kids.

Ran out of roasted garlic and butter fish Crisp which is my go to. Instead I sprinkled hot Montreal steak spice n both sides of fillets. Dipped in egg wash then rolled in 50-50 flour / cornmeal for coating. Turned out delicious.

That looks yummy. Reminds me of my uncles "fresh" fish frys out camping. Be it Walleye, Pike or rocky mountain whites in September. Yummy stuff.
