Hey guy's , I'm looking for tips and or tools you've used for cleaning out the paint from jig eye's. I've tried using hooks , push pins and a clipper/with a pin for punching through eye's which dulled quickly. I'm trying not mangle the plastics on my ratso jigs. TIA Dave.

You can buy a jig eye buster for a couple bucks at the fishin hole. Works great

I don't know how big your jigs are but on 1/2 oz and bigger I find a pair of needle nose pliers works just fine. Grip the eye gently and work your wrist back and forth (like you would a socket wrench) and the paint breaks up enough for you to scratch it out with your finger nail. Good if you have to clean up a bunch in a hurry.

There a few different types but this is probably the most common.

Thanks for the tips . I have been looking at some of the tools on line with mixed reviews. Some are better than others . I've been using the smaller jigs for rainbows and whitefish. I'll give that plier trick a try.

I've always used a rapala jig eye buster. Much nicer than using another jig.

I like that knot tying tool that comes with it . I have similar tool for cleaning eye's but it might be a little poorer quality. It bent a little and dulled fairly quick and the clipper wasn't very sharp.
FP how was your rig for cleaning the smaller perch jigs ?
