Google map of fishing spots

I have a google map that I have been marking fishing spots and general information on. I have started to do the Bow I have some marks right in the city. And a section above Gap Lake done. I try to mark deep holes and cover in the water. if anyone would like to add to this map and share with other forum members I can send a link with co-op map that we can all mark and save. Will just need a email addy from you. I hope that anyone getting involved will respect all locations that are shared.

We have got 35 guys posting on the map , great turn out so far. I would like to thank you all for sharing your locations , a thread like this is what AO FORUM is all about. I hope that all locations are accurate and detailed "Name , depth , cover , ect" And lets respect everyones spots as if they were your own little secret spot. I have a link for almost every lake in BC.

I am from BC and I have been to most of these lakes. In my honest opinion the markers aren't that accurate as far as the placement goes. But they are close enough.

Ha! I'm the guy who did the original conversion to generate the .KML file with the 6000+ lakes. The file is spreading fast. If you fish in BC, the gofishbc.com site also has a .KML file with all of the stocked lakes in the last 5 years which is a good starting point when looking for new places.

Something to think about in the future, would be make the markers coloured to indicate whether or not the fishing spot is open or closed. But that's quite a bit of work, as there probably is only a manual method of changing colours to reflect the fishing regs.

Hello everyone.

I got the link the other day and took a look...it is very impressive and a valuable resource. One thing that I thought would help even more than just having fishing hot spots would be to place markers for public access boat launches to your favorite lakes.

I think that would be helpful to others especially if they have never been to that particular lake before. I presented this idea to the map's creator (jts1) and he agreed that it was a good idea...so start marking!

WOW just looked at the stats on the map. It has had over 45 views REALLY unreal. I can see that this has potential. I am looking at adding GPS locations and a fishing report "like the board at the fishing hole" But if I spend the time and buy a domain will it get used is my question. Any suggestions as to the content of such a site would be great. Or if it would even get used. I have almost finished a Sask map and started a BC map.

Thanks for the map,by the way did you find a pontoon boat yet? I have been trying to send you some pictures but if you have a normal E-mail address I can send you one picture right now.For some reason I cant put it on my page on this form. Does anyone that has a request for map link NOT know how to edit google maps People are starting to add locations but dont know how and I have got to go back and delete there attemps. Lots of guys on here lets not screw it up I can send a link that will allow you to view map but not edit. It has had 55,762 views not to bad if I may say. I would just like to thank all of you for sharing locations on my map. I have got PM's from many a person saying it has helped them a lot. It is a great thing when we can all share information on here with the expectations that it will be used in a responsible manner. I have heard of no negative feed back as of yet from any location. There are some who dont think I am doing the right thing with my map , some who think that I am hurting there fishing spots. Well to them I say I am sry you feel that way. But this sport we all love is better shared with friends. The future of our fisheries depends on the passing of knowledge from generation to generation and angler to angler.

I may be leaving the forum soon. But I will keep updating my map with new locations when ever I can. So if you want in please send me a pm STATING IF YOU CAN edit google maps or would just like the link to view. Again I want to thank all of you for sharing. This map is what forums like this is all about..
