Does anyone have experience with transforming the Lowrance Elite 4 Ice Machine to use on open water? I've been reaching out to Lowrance, as well as searching online, but can't seem to find a solid answer on which skimmer transducer I'll need and whether I'll need a separate cable for power source.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance!

Any Lowrance transducer with the blue connector will work. In order to take advantage of the DI the unit is capable of though, you want this one -

You shouldn't need a separate power cord to connect it to whichever 12V source you want to use in your boat, the existing cord will work fine, just be sure to use an inline fuse.

There's also a suction cup mount that works really well if you want to keep the unit full portable -

The transducer you listed has a male connector, whereas the connector on the unit is also a male. Is there a converter I need? My existing cord is the ice transducer with a female connector that also splits up for the power...

If you've got an Elite 4 with the uniplug connection, your best bet is one of these -

I bought the Elite 4x portable unit a few years ago, mounted in small tin boat before I bought a new one. I have a suction cup I'll give you if you want it, personally, I would hard mount the skimmer, and use the ice transducer any other time. The suction cup does not work very well IMHO.

I appreciate the offer and feedback, but I am likely going with the trolling motor mount or building something to hang off the side of the boat. :)

That's a great way to go, definitely stay away from the suction cup unless you have no other choice!
